Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Rackfuel handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. Rackfuel is designed so that the honest answer to most questions here is: your data stays on your iPhone.

1. Who we are

Rackfuel is an iPhone application for logging food and training ("the App"). For the purposes of UK GDPR, the data controller is the operator of Rackfuel. Contact details are on the support page.

2. Data stored on your device

Everything you log in Rackfuel is stored locally on your iPhone: meals, workouts, sets, body measurements, targets, preferences, streaks and badges. This data is not transmitted to us, is not held on our servers, and we cannot access it. Deleting the App, or using Settings, Delete all data inside the App, permanently removes it.

3. Photo meal estimates

The one feature that leaves your device is the photo meal estimate. When you photograph a meal:

• The photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our estimation service, which forwards it to an AI model provider to produce a nutritional estimate.
• The photo is processed and then discarded. It is not stored by us, not used to train models, and not linked to your identity.
• A random installation identifier, which contains no personal information, accompanies the request so we can enforce fair usage limits. It cannot be used to identify you.

4. What we do not do

• No account is required and none is created.
• No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
• No sale or sharing of personal data with third parties for their own purposes.
• No use of health and fitness data for marketing or data mining, in line with Apple App Store Guideline 5.1.3.

5. Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details. Apple's handling of your data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

6. Apple Health

The App can connect to Apple Health, and only if you choose to. When connected it reads the categories you explicitly approve (such as steps, active energy, weight and workouts from other apps) and writes what you log (confirmed meals, weigh-ins and finished workouts). A photo estimate is never written to Apple Health until you confirm it. All Health data stays on your device: it is used solely to provide App functionality, is never used for advertising, never shared with third parties, and never stored on our servers. You can disconnect at any time in the App's settings or in the Health app.

7. Legal basis

Where UK GDPR applies to the limited processing described above, our legal basis is the performance of a contract (providing the estimation feature you request) and legitimate interests (preventing abuse of usage limits).

8. Your rights

Because your data is stored on your device, you exercise most rights directly: you can view, correct, export and delete everything inside the App. For anything relating to the estimation service, contact us via the support page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

9. Children

Rackfuel is not intended for children under 13, and calorie tracking is not appropriate for young children. We do not knowingly process children's data.

10. Changes

If this policy changes materially, the App and this page will say so before the change takes effect.
